I really like Ryan's music. "Gold" is my fave, with "Magnolia Mountain" next, and "Easy Tiger" third. Sorry he's such an arrogant punk and sort of a train wreck, but he writes some great stuff. Sometimes I think he should send half of his royalties to Neil Young, but if you're gonna borrow liberally from other artists' canons, you could do worse than Neil.
Anyway, I dig Ryan. Almost as much as he digs himself...
I love Neil Young so that explains why I like his stuff. In high school - i was in an all girls choir and we sang "after the gold Rush" though choir director changed "getting high" to "flying high". But I love Neil. ANd that was a really beautiful arrangement she put together for us.
these are my first CD's of his music though it sounds like i need to try your favorite 1st and 2nd. I don't much about his persona but hey - i work with developers and am used to the egomanics. And sort of expect a bit of 'tude.
I love both Easy Tiger and Cold roses. I admire his prolificness (is that even a word?) and committment to experimenting and trying out different styles
